Towards Responsible and Inclusive AI in Invasive Species Management: Looking beyond the algorithm to theory, practice, and conditions for holistic governance
Background
I come from an interdisciplinary background: An MA in Philosophy from the University of Glasgow, and an MSC in Psychological Research Methods from the University of Stirling. I’m interested in cross-disciplinary integration and inclusion of diverse knowledges and values in the development and application of new technologies.
PhD
Towards Responsible and Inclusive AI in Invasive Species Management: Looking beyond the algorithm to theory, practice, and conditions for holistic governanceI am using a mixed-methods approach to research usage trends and ethical / social considerations of AI in invasive species research, governance, and management in the UK. Methods include quantitative systematic literature review, qualitative semi-structured interviews with stakeholders across a range of disciplines and sectors, and knowledge co-production workshops across the devolved nations. I will use these methods to draw together different knowledges, views, and values to address responsible and inclusive development of and for environmental problems, using invasive species as a conservation case study.
In Simple Terms...
I study how AI is being used in invasive species management and work with stakeholders to ensure AI development is responsible, ethical, and inclusive of diverse perspectives.
