Agroforestry for Net Zero: Uncertainty quantification for tree planting and land use strategies
Background
Kevin completed an MSci in Chemical Physics at the University of Glasgow in 2015. Since then, he has worked in environmental data science roles, including over 6 years at the UK Met Office as a data scientist.
PhD
Agroforestry for Net Zero: Uncertainty quantification for tree planting and land use strategiesApplying biophysical modelling and uncertainty quantification techniques to understand the impacts of planting trees on farmland under climate change and their contribution to meeting UK Net Zero targets. This research uses novel model emulation techniques to quantify the confidence we can place in simulation predictions which use limited real-world data, in this case agroforestry field experiments. Comparisons to traditional simulation-based predictions are made, and exploration of improving agroforestry field data using remote sensing.
